Recess Club
Designed to enhance recess at elementary schools throughout the Carpinteria Valley with the aim to inspire curiosity and confidence while extending learning beyond the classroom.
Recess Club was established in 2023 as a program designed to enhance recess at elementary schools throughout the Carpinteria Valley. The program creates a safe and inclusive space where students can engage in structured play, build social connections, and explore new interests during their break. With a focus on teamwork, physical activity, and personal enrichment, Recess Club ensures that students have opportunities to develop both socially and physically in a supportive environment.
In response to the reduction of recess time in schools, Recess Club fills the gap by providing engaging, supervised activities that foster a sense of community and belonging. In addition to promoting active play, the program introduces hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) sessions, allowing students to explore these subjects in an enjoyable, low-pressure setting. These activities aim to inspire curiosity and confidence while extending learning beyond the classroom.
As part of Girls Inc. of Carpinteria’s mission to empower youth, Recess Club makes the organization’s enrichment programs accessible to all students, bringing the benefits of structured play and learning into schools across the community.
