I have been in DC visiting every important place in the nation’s Capitol. The people that work here have the power to change things. Being here means a lot to me because all my life I have only seen these places in pictures and it is soooo crazy to think that right now I am standing in front of the U.S. Capitol!
My favorite part of Hill Day was meeting Lois Capps. I was really inspired by our local Congresswoman. Lois Capps went from being a nurse to being the representative for the 24th district and she never ever thought that she would. This makes me think that maybe even one of us could do that too. She made me feel like I have a say in the world and have a chance to do something in life… She really inspired me.

Taking part in Hill Day reminds me that we are here to pave the way for other girls. Through our actions we can let girls know that they can accomplish anything and only through active participation in the democratic process can we make change.
Meeting Congresswoman Capps and the other politicians was exciting. Each holds strong and important roles equal to men and we need more of them representing the people in government.
