Volunteer Opportunities

Community members from across Santa Barbara county contribute their time and talent at Girls Inc. to make the world a better for girls – whether they’re helping a third-grade girl practice her reading, showing a middle school girl around their company, or speaking to a group of high school girls about potential career paths.

We are always looking for dedicated volunteers, and there are so many ways to get involved.

Girls Inc. of Carpinteria is proud to have more than 100 dedicated volunteers each year. We seek people for on-going commitments, short-term projects and internships.

Program Helpers

Lend a hand with interactive and educational programs throughout the year, such as serving as a reading buddy as part of our Literacy Program.

Mentors

Make an impact by becoming a mentor! The Bold Futures Mentoring Program serves 5th – 8th grade girls. Volunteer mentors meet with their small group of girls once per week to develop supportive relationships.

Educational Workshops

The perfect opportunity for businesses and their employees to run workshops at our center on topics like entrepreneurship, photography, sports and fitness, economic literacy, communication skills and more.

Host a Field Trip at YOUR Workplace

This is one of the most popular ways local women inspire girls to pursue careers in technology, graphic design, city planning, politics, and engineering. A typical field trip consists of hosting a healthy lunch or snack, touring the office, a demonstration of your work with a hands-on component and a Mentoring Panel. Our staff will partner with you on the planning and preparation while the girls start researching your company and field of expertise. You will have an enormous impact in just one afternoon!

One-Day Service Projects

Coordinate activities that engage girls and adults with hands-on service projects.

Eureka! Externships Hosts

Become a sponsor for an extern from Girls Inc. as part of our Eureka! college-bound program.

You’ll support, mentor, and encourage her as she navigates the work world for the first time.

Event Planning

There are many opportunities for engagement throughout the year from intimate community gatherings to our annual fundraising events.
