Jamie Collins

Executive Director

Jamie brings over a decade of experience in fundraising, community outreach, and program development and implementation to Girls Inc. of Carpinteria. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from University of the Pacific, Stockton and, as a Carpinteria native, Collins is an active member of the Carpinteria Evening Rotary, a past Carpinteria Chamber of Commerce board member, and a volunteer with the Carpinteria Education Foundation.

Tess Ortega

Development Director

Girls Inc. of Carpinteria welcomed our new Development Director Tess Ortega to Girls Inc. in July 2023. Ortega will be responsible for formulating and executing a comprehensive strategic plan to expand the organization’s funding base, cultivating donors, directing special events, and increasing philanthropic support. Tess brings over 8 years of administrative management experience and 5 years in nonprofit and private sector development. Ortega holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from California State University, Long Beach. She is pursuing her Master of Business Administration at the University of California, Davis emphasizing strategic management and organizational leadership.

Gloria Flores

HR and Operations Director

Gloria holds a B.A. in Ethnic Studies and History from University of California, San Diego. She has implemented, grown, and developed programs with Girls Inc. for over 6 years. She led the way on the national Girls Inc. literacy initiative, developing the local program and serving as a trainer for affiliates across the country. Gloria was lead on our COVID-19 response team by creating and implementing policies and procedures instrumental in managing operations during the COVID-19 pandemic and coordinating our reopening. She is a certified Safety Manager through OSHA that focuses on providing a healthy and safe environment for staff and girls. Gloria continuously works on creating processes to aid our organization in our day-to-day work and setting the standard for future operations.

Kenya Rodriguez

Programs Director

Kenya has worked for the organization for 7 years; she was our Teen & Eureka! manager prior to her promotion to Program Director where she oversees our on-campus and outreach programs. She regularly launches new program models to reach more youth at our campus and community sites. Kenya is a Girls Inc. alumna who knows firsthand the power of an all-girl environment. She holds a B.A. in women’s and gender studies and is a certified College Board Counselor, working with our teens to ensure they are on the path to post-secondary education.
